27th Annual Concert Series in Tune with Family Fun - 7/5/2002

RICHMOND HILL - Join your friends and neighbours at Mill Pond Park for a delightful musical treat. The Town of Richmond Hill will be holding its 27th annual Concerts in the Park series at Mill Pond Park every Thursday evening in July and August.

Beginning July 11, the popular concert series features a dynamic musical lineup appealing to a wide variety of tastes. The types of performances range from rhythm and blues to children's tunes with an assortment of musical tributes in between, making the series fun for the entire family. The concert listing includes: "Big Shot" - A Tribute to Billy Joel (July 11); Juno Award winner Jack Grunsky and the Children's Character Troupe (July 18); "Surf's Up" - A Tribute to The Beach Boys (July 25); Royal Canadian Artillery Band and the Richmond Hill Centennial Pipe Band (August 1); Michael Pickett - Rhythm and Blues (August 8); Lenny Graf - Direct from Treehouse (August 15); "Syncona" - Direct from "The Lion King" (August 20); The Goods - New Country (August 22); Green River - A Tribute to Creedence Clearwater Revival (August 29).

All concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. and are preceded by a barbecue at 6:00 p.m. Concert goers can assemble their own picnic by purchasing hot dogs, hamburgers or chicken burgers and drinks at a minimal cost. Also, all are welcome to an Old Tyme Corn Roast on August 20, 22 and 29. Residents are invited to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the Richmond Hill Food Bank. Donations will be accepted at all concerts. All concerts are free to the public thanks to the support of local businesses. In the case of inclement weather, a sign will be posted on the band shell by 6:30 p.m. notifying attendees of the concert's cancellation.
