Election Day for all municipalities in the Province of Ontario is Monday, October 25, 2010. On this day, voters in the Town of Richmond Hill will elect positions for the offices of Mayor, Regional and Local Councillor (two positions), Ward Councillor (one for each of Wards 1 to 6) and Trustee for the English Public (two positions), English Separate, French Public and French Separate School Boards.
The term of office is from December 1, 2010 to November 30, 2014.

Important - Contributions to Municipal Election Campaigns
The following rules apply to contributions made to a candidate’s election campaign in the October 25, 2010 Richmond Hill Municipal Election:
Campaign contributions can only be made to nominated candidates.
The maximum contribution is $750 per candidate.
The maximum total amount a person may contribute to candidates in the same jurisdiction is $5,000. Each municipal council and each school board is a separate jurisdiction.
Candidates are required to include the name and address of each person who contributes more than $100 in total to their campaign when filing their campaign finance statement. This document must be filed with the Clerk on or before March 25, 2011 and is a public document.
Clerks are required to make 2010 campaign finance statements available to the public in an electronic format free of charge and post this information on the Town’s website following the election.
In Richmond Hill, campaign contributions are not eligible for a property tax credit, a contribution rebate or a federal income tax receipt.
Important - Voter Identification Requirements
In the upcoming Richmond Hill Municipal Election, identification will be required in order to receive a ballot from election officials. Eligible voters must present the prescribed proof of identity and residence or complete an application in the prescribed form, including a statutory declaration that he or she is the elector shown on the voter's list.
