Every minute of every day, someone in Canada needs blood. That someone could be a loved one, a friend, a coworker or even you. From cancer treatments to heart bypass surgery to car accidents and gun shot wounds, the need for blood and blood products is rapidly rising and the need for donors is just as high. Your help is needed.
A permanent clinic location has been set up at Hillcrest Mall. This clinic is open at varying hours Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and closed on Wednesdays and Sundays.
To be eligible to donate blood and platelets, people must be between their 17th and 71st birthday (regular donors) or between their 17th and 61st birthday (first-time donors). Donors should bring identification with their full name and signature or full name and photograph. They must weigh at least 50 kg (110 pounds), and be in good health and feeling well. Final eligibility determination rests with the screening staff at the donor clinic.
